Miaofan is a second-year doctoral student in the Human Development program working with Dr. Richard Prather. She received a B.A. in Psychology and a B.A. in Cognitive Science from Rutgers University - New Brunswick. Her research focuses on the development of early numerical cognition, specifically how young children map abstract concepts like numbers to symbols and the factors contributing to individual differences. She utilizes behavioral tasks and neuroimaging techniques, such as EEG, in her studies. Additionally, Miaofan is interested in interventions that can enhance young children's understanding of numbers and mathematics, helping them reach their maximum potential.
